(Also, the AT 100's had an annoying habit of playing a local AM station that has a big antenna near our house through the speakers at various, unpredictable times.) I was going to get a pair of M-Audio AV-40's, and also thought about getting a pair of Behringers, but after reading the reviews of those speaker systems I decided to go with the Numark NPM5's.My first impression upon taking them out of the box was that they were bigger than I expected. (That's not a problem -- they fit perfecty on my desktop on either side of my 23" monitor. It's just that each speaker is almost the size of some of the subwoofers that come with cheap Logitech or Cyber Acoustic sat/sub sytems.) They were a breeze to set up. Didn't really expect a great deal of quality when dealing with sound out of these things but I was wrong. These monitors have great sound quality for their price tag. I have had no problems with these speakers yet and they were very easy to set up, just take them out of the box and plug em right in. The adjustments on the back for bass, treble, and gain work very well to tweak the sound to your preference and the bass these things put out is great as well. They are made of strong material and are pretty heavy. These speakers sound great as monitors, but I bought these for a living room setup and they no doubt perform. The EQ and gain controls allow you to set the sound just right with the mixer. At max volume and gain these speakers did not clip. These speakers would be ideal for a small party setup. I recommend these speakers for any "Bedroom" DJ who needs maximum sound reproduction at a bargin price. |
